Several IVL activities at COP15 in Copenhagen

IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute will host and take part in a number of events at the forthcoming climate negotiations in Copenhagen in December. On 7-12 December, IVL will also hold an exhibition on The Climate Account — a tool designed to help individuals to reduce their climate footprint.

Held under the auspices of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the international climate negotiations will take place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen from 7 to 18 December. In conjunction with the negotiations, a number of side events and seminars will be arranged in which countries, delegations, semi-state bodies and NGOs will have the opportunity of presenting information considered to be of relevance to the negotiating parties.

IVL will take part in three events to be held in the special pavilion provided by the European Commission and the Swedish EU Presidency, and will also host an event and exhibition within the UN framework.

Exhibition within UN framework:
7-12 December: Climate Account IVL will present Climate Account, a tool designed to help the individual to reduce his or her climate footprint. The tool contains detailed information and advice on how to reduce emissions. Other climate-related IVL projects will also be featured.

Event within UN framework:
15 December: Climate justice and sustainable development: Intensifying the dialogue between EU, India and China Together with Action for a Global Climate Community, IVL will present a climate community that that can lead the world in the fight against climatic changes within the framework of continued economic development. This includes opportunities and critical factors for increasing the involvement of China and India in climate policy.

Events at EU pavilion:
7 December: CDM in China — Chinese and European perspectives
Together with the European Commission's Directorate-General for External Relations (DG Relex), IVL will hold a seminar on CDM in China — Chinese and European perspectives. The focus will be on technology transfer, impact on sustainable development, market development and policy. The presentation will be based on results from the EU-China CDM Facilitation Project directed by IVL.

9 December: European business and technology centre in India
The European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) in India will be presented. The idea is that the EBTC will work to expand environmental technology transfer from the EU to India as a means of promoting environmental improvement measures.

12 December: Getting serious about 2030 targets
Clipore, the IVL-based climate policy research programme, in collaboration with the Swedish Ministry of the Environment, will hold an event under the title of Getting serious about 2030 targets. The event will focus on current opposition to setting targets for 2020 and on long-term incentives for comprehensive low-carbon investment. A number of possible solutions will be examined.
