IVL strengthens indoor environment competence

IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute will from the first of June take over the operational business of Aimex — one of Sweden's leading companies when it comes to assessing damages caused by moisture and mildew. The take-over is a reinforcement and yet another demonstration of IVL's ambition to be a central actor in the area of sustainable building.

Aimex has for more than 15 years been working with damage investigations and analyses of building materials, and at the same time developed improved methods for better determining damages caused by moisture and mildew that are of importance for a healthy indoor environment. On the first of June, IVL will take over the business, and at the same time Aimex's microbiological laboratory will be transferred to IVL, who will have its accredited laboratory complemented with building material and indoor environment analyses.

Currently, IVL does significant work in the building and real-estate sector, where we work with for example sustainable cities, energy-efficient buildings, and non-toxic building materials, and Aimex's competence in indoor environment will be a great complement. We also see great potential for development in the area of air quality, where IVL is world leading on air monitoring in outdoor environment, and where we now, with the help of Aimex long experience, can develop measurement techniques for monitoring of indoor air quality.

- When Aimex becomes part of IVL, both Aimex and IVL's customers are offered a wider and deeper expertise within the whole area of sustainable building. We will have considerably greater possibilities to develop the environmentally-optimised and long-term solutions that are needed for a sustainable building and real-estate sector, says IVL's MD Björn Lundberg.
