IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute will host and take part in a number of events at the forthcoming climate negotiations in Copenhagen in December. On 7-12 December, IVL will also hold an exhibition on The Climate Account — a tool designed to help individuals to reduce their climate footprint.
On the 19 of November, the IVL-hosted EU-China CDM Facilitation Project arranges a final dissemination conference at Hotel Kempinski in Beijing. At the conference, the project activities and results will be presented.
The European Commission has granted IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute funding to run the three-year LIFE+ project WEBAP. By aeration of oxygen-depleted bottom water layers, the pilot project aims to mitigate the problems with dead bottoms and algae blooms in the Baltic Sea.
In many cases, users of breathing protection equipment are not receiving the protection they need. This is the finding of a study completed recently by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute. Although equipment defects were found in some cases, the main reason for the poor level of protection was insufficient knowledge of how to use the equipment.
IVL has the responsibility to synthesize the project results and is also responsible for parts of the measurements in the new European research programme ArcRisk. The programme deals with impacts on health in the Arctic andEuropeowing to climate-induced changes in contaminant cycling.
